Classroom Guidelines
Attendance and make-up work policy
If the student is in class every day and stays on task there should be very little homework. Students are expected to work diligently during class each day and study outside of class when needed. If the student misses class for any reason, he/she needs to make that time up during AP open lab to stay on track. In the event that there would not be open lab due to an event, late start or supervisor absence, the student should check with the teacher to schedule a time that works. It is the student’s responsibility to ask the teacher what work was missed and to make-up work when they are absent. It is vital that students are in the classroom every day. I understand things come up and students may miss a few classes, however, it may be hard to make up this class work. Any class periods missed will need to be made up during open lab within one day immediately following the absence. For example, if you are absent Wednesday, you will have Thursday to make up the work. If you are present Tuesday and it is announced there is an assignment, quiz, or test due Thursday, you must turn in the assignment, quiz or test on Thursday even if you missed class Wednesday. Students are only allowed in the computer lab during Open Lab with teacher approval. Work that is not made up within the one-day period immediately following the absence will result in a zero unless the student has communicated a reasonable need for the teacher to approve a different deadline. The one-day rule does not apply to pre-planned absences or extra-curricular activities. If you know you will be gone, arrangements need to be made prior to your absence to complete the work ahead of time. All work that you miss because of an extra-curricular activity is due the next morning unless otherwise stated.
Open Lab
To get a pass to the open lab, please see me. You will only receive a pass to the open computer lab during AP if you are working during class time. If you goof off during class, I will not allow you extra time to complete an assignment that you had ample time to complete during class. If you receive a pass for open lab, you must stay in open lab for the entire AP period, please bring extra work if needed. We can also arrange a time for make-up work before school if needed.
Extra Credit
I do not give extra credit. If you would like to raise your grade, please pay extra special attention to your daily work and your test.
Progress reports are made available to you on MCC’s website. I encourage you to make a habit of checking grades on a regular basis online.
Follow the above guidelines and we will have a great learning experience!!

Classroom Guidelines
- Complete all assignments.
- Be in your seat when the bell rings.
- Be respectful to teacher and fellow students. Avoid any behavior that keeps another student from learning.
- Always come to class prepared. This includes bringing a writing utensil, assignments, books and anything else you need during class time with you. Take care of all personal duties such as bathroom breaks and getting drinks before coming to class or after class.
- Please make sure your work area is picked up before class is dismissed. (Materials put away, assignments handed in, computer logged off, chairs pushed in.)
- If you notice something is wrong with your work area, report it to the teacher
- Use class time wisely. Being on-task and exerting effort in class will affect your grade.
- Utilizing the chat feature or any instant messaging is not allowed unless it is specified as part of an assignment.
- Use your documents folder on the server so that you alone can access/delete your files. If you are not using your documents server folder someone else may delete your files. If you give out your server password and someone else uses your files as his or her own, you will receive a zero as well.
- Do NOT give your passwords to anyone, other than your parents, for any reason
- Many assignments will be turned in via drop box. You must include your name in front of the file name provided. Example: JohnsonA Catalog Reply.
- Close your document before uploading it to the drop box. Assignments not dropped in this manner will not appear in the drop box.
- Access files to be used and upload all completed assignments using the links on the teacher’s webpage
- Follow directions and ask questions when directions seem unclear.
- Neatness counts and I do not make extra copies.
- Write legibly and check over your work before turning it in.
- Personal listening devices will not be allowed in class. (Ex. CD’s, iPods or MP3 players)
- We will follow the MCC guidelines/rules regarding Internet use. As a reminder this means no email, instant messaging, inappropriate photos, or non-appropriate school sites on the Internet.
- Cheating will result in a score of zero. This will be without warning and includes sharing files, communication with classmates during tests and quizzes and sharing materials or writing utensils/erasers during tests/quizzes.
- Only print when instructed.
- No food or drink is allowed in the computer room.
- Please keep your hands at your own computer at all times. (Ex. keyboard, mouse, cords)
- Teacher will not accept late work! Late work will result in a zero in the grade book, unless it is an excused absence from class!! Adequate time will be given to complete the assignments in class. If a student needs more time, an open lab pass should be requested from the teacher. Passes will only be granted to students who are on task during class time. Any extra help a student needs will be provided. Please see me as soon as you need help or have any questions.
