Read ALL 15 steps of these instructions for Thursday carefully before you begin. Then come back to the top and begin completing them carefully, one at a time. No music today! You will need to hear prompts during the game you will play and too many things open may freeze your game and make you start over. Step 1: Go to the 21 Things for Students website on the career prep page. Watch the video at the top of the page, then read the rest of that page. Step 2: Go to Quest 1: Game of Life. Read the Introduction and Key Vocabulary, then come back here for the next step Step 3: Click on this link - Show Me the Future - Read the Welcome screen. Step 4: Click on learn how and read that screen Step 5: Go back the the welcome screen and click on about the game. Read the information provided. Step 6: Choose Flash - Medium (763 X 520) on the left side of the screen to start the game. Do NOT skip the intro. Listen to the audio introduction then fill in the boxes to find your new identity. Use an alias for your nickname (e.g. "Silly Sally"). You may use your real school name, grade, and zip code. Step 7: Play the game with the first occupation that shows up. Before you click continue, take a screen snip of your new identity and paste it into a Word document. Label it Game 1. Save the document as: B# LastnameFirstinitial Future (Example: 3A JohnsonA Future) Step 8: Listen to all the prompts and read the text bubbles that pop up. There is usually more information in the bubbles than what is read out loud. Be sure you read them. Step 9: Begin paying some bills to see if you can afford your lifestyle with the job given to you. Be sure to look at all your choices for each area. You should click on each choice to see more details about them before you decide. Step 10: When you have paid all your bills and seen what life events happened to you throughout the year, take a screen snip of your Life Lessons page to paste in your Word document. Step 11: Click the checkbook icon and take as many screen snips as needed to show all your transactions and paste them into your Word document. Step 12: Close the checkbook and click play again. This time click regenerate until you find a job title you might like to do someday. Go to your Word document and type a label for Game 2. Take a screen snip of your desired occupation from the game and paste it into your Word document under Game 2. Step 13: Click the "Continue" button to proceed through each choice and travel on the map to the listed expenditure areas (housing, food, charity, childcare, etc.). When you have paid all of your bills, and seen what life events happened to you throughout the year, take a screen snip of your Life Lessons page to paste in your Word document. Step 14: Click the checkbook icon and take as many screen snips as needed to show all your transactions and paste them into your Word document. Step 15: Save the Word document with your screen snips and put it in the dropbox. Friday Since there were no documents in my dropbox from Thursday, I'm guessing you need more time. Start by completing Thursday's steps. Go to the 21 Things for Students website under the career prep area and choose quest 2. Watch the video at the top of the page. Read the introduction and key vocabulary under the video. Download the WhoAmI.doc document to record your progress in this quest. Complete Step 1 in the WhoAmI.doc A. Brainstorming about YOU! (likes, hobbies, other people's perceptions of you, favorite school subjects/activities, free time, and skills) B. Foundation Skills (visit Career Key to explore the basic, thinking, people and personal qualities that are most like you) |
